When they went for the women, I spoke up —
Because I am an ally

When they went for the gays and the lesbians, I spoke up —
Because I am an ally

When they went for the trans and the queer, I spoke up —
Because I am an ally

When they went for people of color and ethnic minorities, I spoke up —
Because I am an Ally

When they went for the indigenous peoples and first nations, I spoke up —
Because I am an Ally

Then they went back once more, for the Jews
And all my Allies went silent
